I foolishly (yes!) included a forwarding email address when I set up my rise up account.
I cant find it/where it is in my settings to remove it.
Any ideas on this??
Basically I think its best if I set up a new email account.
Can I do it using my current one, or do i have to get a mate to send me an invite (again).

Both things are possible. If you want to remove the forward please follow these steps.
1) Login into https://account.riseup.net
2) Click on "Mail Settings" on the left menu
3) Remove the address from the Forward field and save
Now, If you want to create a new account, there is no problem with inviting yourself. You can generate the invite code in the same https://account.riseup.net, in the Invites section
