Maillist Lockout

wrote...
Hello,

lately i am a member of a parents initiative and am now the new responsible person for the mailliste (hosted by riseup). So I made myself the new owner of the list and deleted the old one. But now I can no longer go to Edit List Config in the admin area. The error message "AUTHORIZATION REJECT (edit_list_request) This action is restricted to list owners." appears.

So I can see that my status for this list only is subscriber. Can someone make me priveleged owner? I really dont understand how this could have happend!:/ The list name is kitakinderglueck_eltern.

Also, we often reach the size limit of attachments (e.g. when we attach a picture). I've read that you can use the SharedSpace for this, but I think it would be very handy if you could send some pictures. Is there anything you can do?

Thanks for the help already!

Best wishes,
Lion

Is it possible you used another email address to set yourself up as owner?

The email address you enter into the owner field is the email address you need to use to sign in to get to the admin area.

Well, I have access to both email addresses. The original owner is not owner anymore, so I cannot access the admin area with it. My new email address was set to be a owner but it seems that it now has the status of subscriber and therefore I get the error message above.. :/

If you added your email as owner, then you should be able to see the admin area. There may be some parts you may not be able to see if you did not set your profile as privileged, but you should at least see the admin button. What email address do you think is currently set as the owner?

lionhellstern@gmail.com should be the new mail address. The old (and removed) one is: dina.purits@rub.de

Who gets the email if you email kitakinderglueck_eltern-admin@lists.riseup.net?

It is not going to lionhellstern but I am not sure whether it goes to dina.purits@rub.de because I have no access to her emails.

Well, that's the mystery to figure out. Since you're not listed as the owner (this is clear since you didn't get the email), it's hard for us to justify taking any administrative action on the list for you. Since the previous owner was (is still?) a member of the organization, I'm sure you or someone can contact them and get to the bottom of this.

So I did send an email to kitakinderglueck_eltern-admin@lists.riseup.net and asked dina whether she got any email but she has not even though she created the list.. Is there anything you can do here? The situation seems stuck!

You said:
lionhellstern@gmail.com should be the new mail address
but it's not. It's close. It's actually the same account. You just have a period in there, i.e. lion.hellstern@gmail.com so you need to use that username to login and you should have admin access.

This is super annoying as it's only Gmail that does that stupidity with periods. Everyone else would consider those two addresses to be completely different. I would urge you, given that, to get in the habit of not using the periods.

Oh, that's not your fault, it's stupid Google!!! I'm glad we figured it out, though. ;) Make sure your profile (where you set the owner) is set to privledged so you have full control of the list. Be well!
