Thunderbird doesn't accept the accout

Thunderbird (52.1.1 32Bit, Vanilla, no addons) sais, that the configuration cant be checked and asks if my username or passwort is wrong. It isnt.

Settings

Username: XYZ
Mail: XYZ@riseup.net
Passwort: XYZ

Income Server: IMAP imap.riseup.net Port: 993 SSL/TLS Password, normal
Outgoing Server: SMTP mail.riseup.net Port 465 SSL/TLS Password, normal
username: XYZ outgoin-server: XYZ

Mail and password are 100 % accurate.
I also tried port 143 for incoming, tried smpt.riseup.net for outgoin but nothing helps.

Any suggestions?

Hi,

When you add a riseup account to thunderbird, it will automatically put the correct information for the imap/pop and the smtp server.

I just created a new profile on it, and added my account without any issues

IMAP: imap.riseup.net, port 993, SSL/TLS, and normal password
Username: cyanolyca
Password:

And i have the same info as you for the smtp server.

Can you log into https://mail.riseup.net with your account data?

Hi,

thanks for your answer. I have zero problems to login to my online-account. Also on my smartphone there is no problem to login via gmail or bluemail into my riseup-account.

I also downloaded a vanilla thunderbird portable and it always tells me that

the configuration cant be checked - is the username or password wrong?

i copy and pastet the username and password, its definetely correct. Can any of my Windows-10-64Bit-Setting prevent it. I have the same problem on my second PC.

You mean that gmail is fetching the mails from riseup? As if i wrote to you it shows on your gmail account?

No, this shouldn't be affected by any setting except one that is related to keyboards... We had in the past issues where people copy/pasted passwords but their desktop for some reason used a different keyboard setting when doing that. There were no problems with letters but stuff with signs as áéè{& failed on the paste.

So, to advance on this I'm going to do the following:

Try to add a new riseup.net account (you can delete it later) with the following data

Name: test account
E-mail: test-account-12@riseup.net
Password: W7zpsWrLEiCikrMnWjKp95F6zCubZq

Do this in the autoconfig tool of thunderbird, as it will use what we need.

Hey, you are the best!
Thanks to you i found the problem.

In my password was the german letter "ß". I changed it to "ss" and Thunderbird has no problem anymore! Thats a kind of huge bug then in Thunderbird, isn't it? I'll write them.

Is that a bug of Thunderbird or of RiseUp?

Well, thunderbird is not sending what riseup is expecting, as the webmail works and the phone too

Still, i would like to now if the problem was produced during the copy/paste or for some reason thunderbird hates the ß character. I had seen the issue produced before in the copy/paste case (i use spanish symbols on passwords sometimes) and that's why i asked
