The status of my riseup account has been changed from "active" to "closed", without my request and without being told why. I can not access my mail account since this morning. What can I do ?

Your account was closed because it was sending links with malware. As we cannot allow this to happen or the whole service gets blocked by the world, we locked your account. I re-enabled it, please change your password as soon as possible.

What is a phishing email?

A phishing email is an email that pretends to be from riseup, but is actually not from riseup, and asks you to click on a link to verify your account information. The link you click on is actually *not* riseup's website, even though the website may look like our website. As a result, you are basically turning over the keys to your account to a third party. This results in a spammer was sending out thousands and thousands of emails using your riseup account.
Why is this bad?

This is bad for many reasons. It uses up precious riseup resources. It causes riseup to be blocked by numerous large email providers for sending spam. And it takes lots and lots of our volunteers' time.
How can I avoid this problem in the future?

First of all, we will *never* ask you to "verify your account" or to "confirm your password." If you receive a message that has a link in it, check to see where the link goes. For example, if you put your mouse pointer above the link, does the link say "https://mail.riseup.net/?" If not, it is not a legitimate riseup link. More importantly, if you happen to click on a link in an email, look at the address bar on the top of your browser. Does it say "https://mail.riseup.net?" If not, it is not a legitimate site.
How can I restore access to my account?

Once we re-enable the account, you will need to change your password at https://account.riseup.net/passwords. Please do it as soon as possible or we will have to lock your account again.

I just changed my password as requested. On the other hand, the status of my account is always indicated as "closed".
Do I have to do anything else to reactivate my account and have access to my emails again?
