I created a group account years ago.
Now the group is no longer there, but to reviving it I'm trying to get in touch with them, the answer I get is ' Recipient address rejected: User unknown" Yet when then trying to add this address as an alias of an existing address, it tells me that it is already taken

Our system reserves accounts names for a while after the account is cleaned up. But it eventually releases them to be used again. I would try adding it once a month.
