Can I disable the spam filter? I use a filter in my e-mail client that works very well, so server-side filters are redundant and just cause unnecessary trouble for me.

Yes. You can tweak some options by going into account.riseup.net, and then to "Mail Settings" where you will see the "Spam Settings".
There you can lower the sensibility of the spam filter and/or directly white list some addresses and domains you could allow just pass through.
