Apple (iphone) asking me to verify email account - disclosing my main account?

Oilofgladness a posé une question...
I recently opened a gift iPhone account. I gave one of my alias addresses as my apple ID. They are asking for me to verify it by clicking on their link. If I understand a previous Riseup newsletter, this would disclose to them my main account. I tried copying and pasting their link address, and going to it that way, but they said they could not verify the email address. So, what do you do with something like that?!
And, thanks in advance, anyone who can help! I appreciate you guys! You're amazing!

Hi,

Just receiving mail at a riseup alias doesn't reveal your main account name. But when you click on the link they can determine a lot from your browser and where you are on the internet. There are tools to help reduce that (VPN to hide where you are, tor browser or other browser plugins to hide info about your browser/computer).

So what you did should have been relatively safe. I don't know why they couldn't verify the address, you received the link and used it. Maybe there was a problem with the copy-and-paste? I'd try it again.
